About Bryndavos
Wander well — choose well, plan well, pack well, spend well
Bryndavos is an independent travel magazine for people who want more than the highlight reel. We help you choose where to go, plan trips that actually work, travel smarter, and see more of the world for less.
Why we started Bryndavos
Most travel content falls into one of two traps. It is either pure fantasy — flawless sunsets, bottomless budgets, itineraries that quietly assume you never miss a connection or get a cold — or it is a thin excuse to sell you a booking. We wanted a third option: evocative, honest writing for people with real holidays, real budgets, and a finite amount of time off.
Bryndavos started in 2026 as a set of notes between people who kept being asked the same questions by friends: Where should I actually go? Is this itinerary realistic? Do I need a visa? How are you doing this so cheaply? Those answers turned into articles, and the articles turned into this. Today we publish across four areas — destinations, trip planning, travel tips, and budget travel — all built on one belief: a well-chosen, well-planned trip beats an expensive, rushed one every time.
How we work
Every article is written or edited by someone who has made the trip, booked the route, or learned the lesson the hard way. We favour depth over volume, we update guides when prices and rules change, and we are upfront about what we don't know. When we recommend a place or a way of travelling, it's because we'd send a friend there — not because someone paid us to.
We're also honest about one thing that matters a great deal in travel: details change, and they change fast. Visa rules, prices, safety conditions, and health requirements shift constantly and vary by nationality. We'll always point you to official sources to verify before you book — read more in our disclaimer and about how we work in our editorial policy.
What we value
The principles behind every article
Been there, not just read there
We write about places we've actually visited and trips we've actually taken. If our advice comes from a press trip or a guidebook rather than the road, we say so.
Reader-first, always
Our recommendations are independent. No hotel, airline, or tourism board pays for a place in our coverage, and we keep advertising clearly separate from editorial.
Honest about the money
Most of us aren't travelling on an open chequebook. We keep the costs, the trade-offs, and the cheaper alternatives in plain view so you can decide what's worth it.
Practical over dreamy
Inspiration is the easy part. We tell you the visa you'll need, the season to avoid, and the booking that saves you a fortune — the way we'd tell a friend before they go.
The team
Who writes Bryndavos
Sofia has been travelling and writing about it for the better part of two decades, across more than fifty countries and far too many overnight buses. She founded Bryndavos to cut through the highlight-reel version of travel and share what actually helps — the planning, the trade-offs, and the small decisions that make a trip sing. She still gets a thrill from a printed boarding pass.
Caleb is a recovering over-planner who turned the habit into a craft. He writes about itineraries, booking, and the unglamorous logistics that quietly decide whether a trip is wonderful or exhausting. He believes the best plan is one flexible enough to survive contact with reality.
Nina has backpacked, house-sat, and slow-travelled her way around the world on a shoestring, proving again and again that a small budget buys big experiences. She writes about travelling cheaply without travelling cheaply — the difference being where you choose to spend. She is fiercely allergic to tourist traps.
