How Bryndavos researches, writes, and reviews its travel content — and how we stay independent.

Last updated: June 12, 2026

Trust is the only thing that makes a travel publication worth reading. This page explains how we research, write, review, and maintain everything on Bryndavos — and how we keep our recommendations independent.

How we choose what to cover

We write about the trips real readers are trying to take: where to go and why, how to plan an itinerary that survives reality, how to travel well, and how to see more for less. Ideas come from our own travels, reader questions, and the recurring problems we watch people run into. We do not chase trends for traffic's sake, and we don't write puff pieces about places we haven't experienced.

How we research and write

Every article is written or edited by a named member of our team with direct, first-hand experience of the destination or the kind of trip it describes. When we recommend a place, a route, or a way of travelling, it's because we've been there or done it ourselves. We draw on primary sources — official travel advisories, embassy and tourism-authority information, and our own time on the ground — rather than recycling what other sites say. Claims that depend on figures, rules, or prices are linked to their source, and we note when something varies by nationality, season, or date.

Verify before you go

Travel information has a shelf life. Visa rules, prices, schedules, safety conditions, and health requirements change constantly, so we treat "verify before you go" as a core part of our craft. Throughout our guides we point you to official sources — government advisories, embassies and consulates, airlines, and tourism authorities — and our disclaimer sets this out in full. We'd rather send you to check the official source than have you rely on a number that may have moved.

Editing and review

Before publication, each piece is reviewed for accuracy, clarity, and usefulness. We ask a simple question of every draft: would this genuinely help a reader plan or take a better trip — and have we told them where to verify the details that change? If a draft doesn't clear that bar, it does not run.

How we make recommendations

Our recommendations are brand-agnostic. We start from the reader's trip and budget, not from a hotel, airline, or tour we'd like to promote. There is no pay-for-stay and no affiliate relationship that dictates our coverage. Sometimes the best answer is the cheaper option, the slower route, or skipping a famous sight altogether — and we'll say so.

Our use of AI tools

Our articles are written and edited by people. We may use software for spell-checking, research, or suggesting outlines, but a human writer is responsible for the substance, accuracy, and final wording of everything we publish. We do not publish auto-generated content.

Independence and advertising

Bryndavos is funded by advertising and, occasionally, affiliate links. To protect your trust:

  • We never accept payment — including free stays, flights, or trips — in exchange for positive coverage or a place in our recommendations.
  • Advertising is clearly distinguishable from articles.
  • Affiliate relationships never change our verdict — see our disclaimer for the full disclosure.

Corrections

We get things wrong sometimes, and when we do, we fix them quickly and transparently. If you spot an error or an out-of-date price, rule, or detail, email [email protected] or use our contact form. Substantive corrections are noted on the article.

Updates

Because prices, rules, and conditions evolve, we revisit popular guides and refresh them. When an article is meaningfully updated, the publication date reflects the most recent revision.
